ISLAMABAD: In a significant boost to Pakistan’s domestic energy production, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has commenced gas and condensate output from the Soghri North Well-1, located in the Soghri Block of Attock district, Punjab. The milestone, announced on Friday, follows the company’s earlier discovery at the site in March 2025 and marks a critical step forward in OGDC’s strategy to fast-track the monetization of new hydrocarbon finds.
The Soghri North Well-1 is now producing 14.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 430 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate. To bring the well online efficiently, OGDC laid a 14-kilometre, 8-inch flow line linking it to the nearby Dakhni Plant, where the gas is processed before being injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network. This integration ensures the immediate contribution of indigenous gas to the national grid, directly supporting industrial and domestic consumers amid the country’s mounting energy demands.
As the sole operator of the Soghri Exploration License with 100 percent working interest, OGDC continues to position itself at the forefront of Pakistan’s energy sector. The company reaffirmed its commitment to responsible resource development and energy security, highlighting that this latest achievement aligns with its broader mission to reduce reliance on imported fuels by unlocking the country’s untapped hydrocarbon potential.
