ISLAMABAD: In a resounding affirmation of its financial strength and strategic direction, Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has reported its highest-ever annual earnings and dividend payout for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The milestone underscores OGDC’s resilience and dominance in Pakistan’s energy sector amid operational challenges, volatile markets, and a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
At a Board meeting held on Tuesday (September 23, 2025), OGDC approved a final cash dividend of Rs 5.00 per share, bringing the total dividend for the year to Rs 15.05 per share — a 150.5% return, the largest in the company’s corporate history. This landmark payout comes on the back of strong financial results, with the company posting net sales revenue of Rs 401.178 billion and profit after tax of Rs 169.904 billion, translating into earnings per share (EPS) of Rs 39.50.
Economic Pillar with National Impact
OGDC’s performance goes beyond its balance sheet. The company contributed a staggering Rs 264 billion to the national exchequer and achieved foreign exchange savings of US$3.192 billion, cementing its role as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economic stability and energy independence.
Operational Excellence Amidst Constraints
Despite significant offtake curtailments by SNGPL from key fields like Nashpa, Qadirpur, and Bettani — along with lower demand from Uch Power — OGDC managed to maintain its leading production profile. The company averaged 30,919 barrels per day (BPD) of oil, 652 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, and 642 metric tons per day (MTD) of LPG. Internal assessments indicated that, without these curtailments, production could have reached 32,709 BPD of oil, 743 MMSCFD of gas, and 714 MTD of sulphur.
Exploration, Expansion, and New Frontiers
The fiscal year also marked a period of aggressive exploration and portfolio expansion. OGDC spudded 15 new wells, announced five discoveries, and secured seven new exploration blocks in the 2025 bid round — reinforcing its upstream leadership and replenishing its reserves base.
Strategic infrastructure investments advanced as well. The commissioning of the Jhal Magsi Field and ongoing work on compression facilities at Dakhni, KPD-TAY, and Uch are poised to unlock future production volumes, addressing both domestic demand and energy security.
Diversification and Innovation: The Future in Focus
Demonstrating foresight beyond hydrocarbons, OGDC continued to diversify its asset base. It made notable progress in the Reko Diq minerals project, deepened its international footprint through Abu Dhabi Offshore Block-5, and accelerated its geothermal energy initiatives. Meanwhile, on the domestic front, the company advanced its Production Optimization Plan for mature fields — including Rajian, Fimkessar, Missakaswal, and Toot — and rolled out tight gas initiatives.
Its Shale Gas Pilot Project also achieved a new milestone, finalizing the design for Phase 2 horizontal hydraulic fracturing, signaling OGDC’s readiness to unlock Pakistan’s unconventional gas potential.
Corporate Governance: Leading with Integrity
In a sector often scrutinized for transparency, OGDC emerged as a benchmark. In the 2024 Transparency in Corporate Reporting (TRAC) Assessment by Transparency International Pakistan, OGDC ranked third overall and first among public sector companies, with a disclosure score of 93.09% — reaffirming its commitment to accountability, ethical business, and stakeholder trust.
The company further embedded Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) frameworks across its operations, reinforcing its ambition to be a progressive, responsible, and future-ready national enterprise.
Board Commends Management, Charts Long-Term Vision
The Board of Directors lauded the management’s operational excellence, financial discipline, and bold strategic decisions, which collectively enabled the company to achieve record financial results while building a future-ready energy portfolio. The Board expressed confidence in OGDC’s ability to sustain its upward trajectory and deliver enduring value for shareholders, stakeholders, and the nation. Ends
