ISLAMABAD: Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), which is the biggest Electric Power Distribution Company (DISCO) in terms of the area in Punjab has submitted with NEPRA a business plan of Rs119.466 billion for five year years from FY26 to FY30 to make its distribution system safe, sound and reliable.

Under the distribution investment plan (DIP) uploaded on the NEPRA’s official website, MEPCO has planned to invest Rs36.881 billion for STG in five years. The plan narrates that in FY25, the said DISCO will invest Rs8.878 billion on STG to be followed by RS9.826 billion in FY27, Rs6.522 billion in FY28, Rs7.567 billion in FY29 and Rs4.088 billion in FY30.

And to improve DOP, it will invest Rs11.890 billion in five years up to FY30 under which it will invest Rs2.185 billion in FY26, Rs2.358 billion in Fy27, Rs2.428 billion in FY28, Rs2.376 billion in FY29 and Rs2.543 billion in FY30. And on ERL, MEPCO says it will invest RS36.726 billion in five years in staggered form starting from investment of Rs11.285 billion in FY26, Rs11.945 billion FY27, Rs4.378 billion in FY28, RS4.799 billion in FY29 and Rs4.319 billion in FY30.

In order to improve Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), it came up with a plan to invest Rs145 billion in two years from FY26, with an investment of Rs10 billion, in FY27 Rs135 billion. And on Earthing of Structure, MEPCO has earmarked Rs216 billion which will be invested in FY26. For insulation of conductors, it will invest Rs98 million in FY27 and for GIS Mapping, it has planned to invest Rs122 million in staggered form in two years from FY26 Rs103 million and FY27, Rs19 million.

With regard to carry out the AMI expansion, a heavy amount of Rs4.683 billion will be invested starting from Rs2.103 billion in FY26, Rs2.350 billion in FY27, Rs230 million in FY29. For the establishment of the IT Directorate, Rs547 million will be invested followed by Rs126 million in FY26, Rs150 million in FY27, Rs68 million in FY28, Rs55 million in FY29 and Rs148 million in FY30. For safety improvement, MEPCO will invest Rs4.568 billion to be followed by Rs1.033 billion in FY26, RS1.133 billion in FY27, RS1.157 billion in FY28, Rs564 million in FY29 and RSs682 million in FY30.

For ERP, MEPCO says it will invest Rs515 million from Rs400 million in FY26 and Rs115 million in FY27. For the Transport Directorate Plan, it will spend Rs 1.891 billion to be followed by Rs621 million in FY26 and Rs1.270 billion in FY27. For public relations and image building, it will invest Rs123 million to be followed with Rs25 million in FY26, RS19 million in FY27, Rs22 million in FY28, Rs26 million in FY29 and RS31 million in FY30. MEPCO also plans to establish the transformers’ workshop with an investment of Rs545 million. It will also invest Rs11.690 billion for installation of APMS under which RS6.512 billion in FY26 and Rs5.178 billion in FY27. For research and development, DISCO has fixed the amount of Rs150 million under which Rs30 million will be spent on each financial year till FY30. In the last for installation of scanning meters, it will invest Rs5.167 billion to be followed by Rs1.657 billion in FY26, Rs1.709 billion in FY27 and Rs1.801 billion in FY28. Ends
