ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Managing Director and CEO Ahmed Hayat Lak has said energy security is central to Pakistan’s efforts to build a stronger and more prosperous country.
In his message on Pakistan’s Independence Day, Lak said the responsibility of securing the country’s future rests with institutions capable of developing indigenous solutions.
“Independence is a responsibility every generation must carry forward,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s responsibility today includes building an economy that is more resilient and capable of meeting its critical needs through its own resources and capabilities.
Lak said a secure and reliable energy supply is essential for industries, businesses, communities and economic growth.
He stressed that energy security is not a slogan but a continuous effort, with domestic oil and gas production playing an important role in reducing dependence on imports.
“Every barrel produced domestically is a barrier against import dependence, and every discovery strengthens the country’s economic sovereignty,” he said.
The OGDCL chief said the company remains committed to supporting Pakistan’s energy security through indigenous resources and solutions.
He added that OGDCL teams working across the country continue to perform their duties with the same commitment and understanding.
Lak’s remarks underline the importance of domestic exploration and production in strengthening Pakistan’s energy supply and reducing reliance on imported energy resources. Ends
