ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kuwait have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties, with Kuwait signaling strong interest in expanding investments in Pakistan during a series of high-level meetings with Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik.

Mr. Malik held discussions with Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Finance and Renewable Energy of Kuwait and Chairman of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA). The two leaders underscored the historic ties between the countries and explored ways to expand cooperation in energy, trade, and investment, with a focus on mutually beneficial opportunities.

Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem emphasized Kuwait’s ongoing investments in Pakistan and expressed the country’s eagerness to broaden its portfolio, noting that KIA is ready to collaborate closely with Pakistani stakeholders to explore new projects.

Welcoming Kuwait’s confidence, Mr. Malik highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors, to attract and sustain foreign investment.

In separate engagements, Mr. Malik met with Riyadh Al Edrissi, Chairman of Meezan Bank, praising the bank’s strong performance and highlighting it as a model for successful foreign investment in Pakistan’s financial sector.

Further discussions were held with Waleed Shamlan Ahmad, Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development, to strengthen development funding and cooperation on socio-economic projects, along with a meeting at KIA with its Deputy Managing Director to explore additional investment avenues.

Mr. Malik also interacted with Pakistan’s business community in Kuwait, acknowledging the crucial role of Overseas Pakistanis in driving investment, supporting economic growth, and fostering bilateral ties.

These meetings signal a renewed strategic partnership, with both Pakistan and Kuwait committed to enhancing cooperation and boosting sustainable growth and mutual prosperity. Ends
