ISLAMABAD: The government here on Friday appointed the Member Finance in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

According to the notification, Mr Shakeel Ahmed has been appointed as a Member Finance in OGRA on a contract basis for a period of two years under section of 3(8) (C) of the OGRA Ordinance with immediate effect.

 Mr Sheel Ahmed has been the Chief Manager Procurement in SSGC and also Managing Director of SLL (Sui Southern LPG Limited).

The government earlier finalized three candidates with Mr Salman Amin top on the list, Mr Shakeel Ahmed second and Mr Faheem was third for the slot of Member Finance in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) after the lapse of 9 months’ time. However, the government has appointed Mr Shakeel Ahmed as Member Finance in the regulator. The said candidates have also been cleared by the relevant agencies.”

Earlier, the Cabinet Division had forwarded the summary to the PM office for the final decision. The name of Mr Salman Amin was at the top of the list of selected candidates as his education and experience are comparatively better than other competing candidates’. Mr Salman Amin is a Chartered Accountant, and ACCA-UK.

He served as a Financial Economist in the Finance Ministry of Pakistan (Policy Wing). He also worked in FRB tax reforms, apart from working in OGDCL as GM Commercial, GM Audit and GM Strategy Planning. He also served in NEPRA as a Senior Advisor for 4 year (2015-2019) and played a role in rationalizing the Pakistan tariff structure. Presently he is serving in CCP (Competition Commission of Pakistan) for two years. Earlier he also worked in DFID (Department for International Development) for three years and also worked as financial adviser for Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for 11 years (2007-2018).
