ISLAMABAD – Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has successfully begun producing 1,100 barrels of oil per day from its newly completed development well, Pasakhi-14, situated in the Hyderabad district of Sindh.
The well falls under the Pasakhi & Pasakhi North Development & Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDC holds full ownership. Leveraging its in-house technical expertise, the Company delineated, drilled, and tested the well to a depth of 2,183 metres, targeting the hydrocarbon-rich upper sands of the Lower Goru formation.
To enhance drilling precision and productivity, OGDC incorporated advanced technologies including a Rotary Steerable System (RSS), Electromagnetic Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and—used for the first time by the Company—a nitrified mud system. These innovations helped maintain formation integrity, ensure directional accuracy, and deliver strong production results. The well has been completed with state-of-the-art Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) technology.
The successful start of production from Pasakhi-14 underscores OGDC’s continued commitment to exploration-led growth, operational excellence, and boosting national energy output. The Company reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing shareholder value and supporting Pakistan’s energy security through sustained investment in exploration and development. Ends
