ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kuwait have reinforced their decades-long energy partnership, with Kuwait committing to full facilitation for Pakistani vessels importing diesel and jet fuel. The announcement comes amid regional uncertainties and rising global energy costs.
The assurance was given during a high-level meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi. The discussion covered bilateral relations, energy cooperation, and regional stability.
Minister Malik expressed deep gratitude for Kuwait’s continued support and highlighted the historical trust between the two nations, noting that Pakistan has been importing petroleum products—especially diesel—from Kuwait for over five decades. “Our relationship is not only longstanding, it is connected by hearts,” he said.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has assured Pakistani-flagged vessels full facilitation for fuel lifting, a commitment seen as crucial for maintaining energy security in a volatile global environment. Malik also conveyed his regards to Kuwait’s Oil Minister Tariq Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi and KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Al Sabah.
The meeting also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability. Minister Malik reaffirmed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s active role in promoting peaceful resolutions and ensuring the flow of essential commodities across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Ambassador Almutairi lauded Pakistan’s constructive approach, noting the country’s leadership in rejecting force and promoting diplomatic solutions during regional crises.
